Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Adding to the developer's success, the talented cast also received personal awards. Jennifer English was named Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards throughout the show.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only four awards—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—judged by reviewers.
