The former Liverpool manager says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won the Premier League last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the notion that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to his interviewer: “I declared I refuse to lead another team on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”
“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on the specific conditions would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in every contest post heavy investment, though he denied the idea it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a road accident together with his sibling this past summer.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
