The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in prize money.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
