Trump Invites Relatives of Injured Military Personnel to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the head of her former high school, told the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to help others.”

Memorial details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Revisions

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to pause refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
